Forgot to start the Garmin and didn’t get data for first mile.
Nice weather. Legs didn’t feel so great.
Brooklyn Half
New Jersey Marathon at the Shore on 5/6 and Healthy Kidney 10k on 5/12.
I have no business racing that 10k and even less business registering for the Brooklyn Half on 5/19. Yet, I have a feeling that by the end of the day I will have registered.
Fun runs, right?
So, they didn’t cancel the race, but it was an unscored (read: no official time) race.
I very seriously considered staying in bed when the alarm went off. Instead I made it out to slosh around central park a couple of times.
The snow changed over the run. At times the wind was sharp and so was the snow. The fluffy flakes were much easier on the face. I had to unglove my hand to clear the stuff that had frozen onto my beard and eyebrows.
No major slips. Decent time on the Garmin.
Garmin time is 43:47. 20 seconds shy of a PR.
We shall see what NYRR clocks me in at.
Sixth mile at a 6:44 pace. Niiiiiice.
First race of 2012 on the books.
Despite the beautiful weather, pretty somber mood in Central Park.
Only heard one cowbell and one course marshall cheering.
Other than someone yapping over the PA towards the finish.

After intense negotiations with my left knee and IT band.
It is ON. Just registered for the New Jersey Marathon!

Now, to find a training plan…I am thinking a 12 weeker…
Number 3 will be NYC 2012, 6 months later.

Great race. Fastest pace for a race longer than 10k.
1:08:09, 7:20 minute miles. Overall place 440/4287.
Technical difficulties with Garmin at start, but its pretty close.
LOVE IT
Mostly sunny. High of 54, low of 47.
Still a little far out, but maybe the forecast will hold.
